Survivor Support: A Path to Healing Our Communities

  • New Women Space 188 Woodpoint Road Brooklyn, NY, 11211 United States (map)

Often people who experience sexual violence are isolated from seeking external support, due to feelings of shame and/ or guilt. The goal of this workshop is to shift that narrative so folks who’ve experienced harm can rely on community support partnered with their own individual healing.

As facilitators, we will guide workshop participants towards tangible collective responses to sexual violence. In this approach, we strive to normalize the adoption of networks of care as a widespread response to harm.

This work is vulnerable and may unearth aspects of your own internal healing. Everyone is welcome, come ready for an experiential and activity-based process!

*Accessibility notes*
Non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase throughout the event.

NWS’ ground floor is wheelchair accessible, the basement (where our workshop is happening) is not. The basement level is accessible via stairway (13 steps). There is railing on both sides leading to the basement level.

Gender neutral single person restrooms are located on both floors. Both restrooms do not have access railings. Both restrooms have space for walkers and wheelchairs.

To the best of your capacity, please be scent/fragrance-free to support members of our community with chemical sensitivities. We acknowledge that essential oils, perfumes, and scent products can be a form of self-expression and healing but we ask participants to also recognize how using these products can create barriers for folks desiring to share space with us.
